Why Choose Decorating As A Profession?
08th Apr 2019
March saw the arrival of National Apprentice week, and to emphasise the importance of a career in painting and decoration, the national trade body is sending out a message to school leavers.
We have arrived at the time of the year when many pupils across the UK are still thinking about what job they are going to do with the future. Couple that with the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board ) network of construction skills forecasting that between 2016 and 2018 there will be an ever-increasing demand for painters and decorators, there has never been a better time to join the painting and decorating industry.
The forecasted figure is over 13,000 new positions for skilled people in this sector. The days of slow growth in the economy are behind us and now as the escalation continues there is a huge need for qualified professionals to work in the many schemes that are already underway.
For anybody that is thinking of becoming a fully trained painter and decorator, there is a highly rewarding career opportunity ahead that offers practical skills mixed with creativity, not found in other jobs. The modern painter and decorator needs to have a certain professionalism and a mind that is able to keep up to date with all of the latest advances in the industry. There are always new products on the market and new decorating techniques to improve skill levels.
The CITB is a body focussing on the construction industry in England, Scotland and Wales, helping to encourage training and creating safe, professional and qualified workers. You can read more about their work and their research by visiting www.citb.co.uk.
